How Hosting Works

Curious about how all this works? Whether your home is a short-term rental, a second home, or your primary residence, here are five steps to prepare your place.

Here's our overall model

  • Hosts donate unoccupied nights to ministers.
  • The minister pays the fee.
  • PastorStays drops this fee into the host’s secured Stripe account.

What types of Properties do we look for?

  • Second home
  • Short term rental,
  • Time share
  • Condo
  • Cabin
  • Primary residence when gone
  • Guest house or room on property
  • Boat house
  • Tree house
  • RV or camper

Step 1: Post your Home 🏡

To begin, create an account and follow the intuitive instructions. You will be asked for the following information:

  • Title for your home.
  • Warm description, highlighting the unique features of your home.
  • Number of beds and bathrooms.
  • House Rules. Add any specific house rules and policies for your place. (Check out time, pet policies, quiet time, etc.)
  • House Availability. Briefly describe the best times for the minister to stay at your place. (Weekends, weekdays, seasons, etc.)
  • Additional Fees. List additional fees and amounts that may apply. (Pet fee, late check out, peak seasons, etc.) You, as the host, are responsible to invoice the minister directly for additional fees.
  • Rental Market value per night (to communicate the value to the minister accurately).
  • Nightly Discount Rate you would like to offer.
  • Add your cleaning fee.
  • Up to 20 photographs showcasing your home's best attributes.
  • Payout details. We use Stripe as our payment processor and will automatically provide you with the collected fee once a request is reserved. You will receive your payout within 24 hours of accepting a request.
  • Dates not available to the minister. Be sure to block out your calendar accordingly.

Step 2: Minister Request booking ⛪

This is done on the secure platform of PastorStays

Step 3: Host Declines or Accepts reservation 👍 👎

At PastorStays, we prioritize the comfort and autonomy of our Hosts. When a Minister requests a stay at your place, you have the freedom to choose whether to accept or decline the request. We understand that every Host has unique circumstances and preferences and we want you to feel empowered in your decision-making process.

  • PastorStays communicates to the Minister whether you accept or decline their request.
  • If you decline a request, we recommend that you use our chat feature to suggest better times for the Minister to stay at your place.

Step 4: Minister pays cleaning fee + credit card payment 🏦

The cleaning fee is deposited by PastorStays into the Host's secure Stripe account.

Step 5: Host Communicates with the minister 💬

While PastorStays initially communicates reservation details to the minister, you can continue the conversation using our convenient chat feature.

Please share the following important information with the Minister:

  • Location and address of your home.
  • Instructions on how to access the house.
  • Any specific house rules that need to be followed.
  • Words of encouragement.
  • Invoice any additional fees
